Homegrown Brand, Nzema Appolo Skincare launches in USA

This October is National Eczema Awareness month and what better time to announce the entry of home-grown brand Nzema Appolo Skincare, founded by entrepreneur Ms. Nadia Takyiwaa-Mensah.

Nzema Appolo is a 100% natural and vegan skincare range especially curated for people with skin concerns including eczema, psoriasis, acne, hyper-pigmentation, stretch marks and fine lines. 10 out of 11 products in the range contain only 1 ingredient, and the natural ingredients hail from rural areas and the hinterlands in Ghana.

“I founded Nzema Appolo after being diagnosed with atopic dermatitis (eczema) when I was months young in the UK. After a few years of the doctors trying different prescriptions, they put me on steroid cream to control my flare ups and heal my skin,” states founder, Ms. Nadia Takyiwaa-Mensah.

“I was being treated with steroids until my teens and one day I read the label which contained warning signs of long-term use of the cream. When I consulted my doctor, they took me off the medication and told me there was nothing more they could do to help me, I was left to try over the counter products to see what could help me, I felt helpless. When I was in my 20’s, I tried unrefined shea butter, and if I can say – ‘the end!’, I guess you will then understand and appreciate the genesis of Nzema Appolo Skincare”.

Eczema is a skin concern which does not discriminate with age, race or gender; however, research has shown, Black people have a higher chance of getting eczema compared to white counterparts, here are some key facts people should be aware of.

•Black children in the U.S are about 1.7 times more likely to develop eczema than white children, though it’s often under-diagnosed.

•Eczema typically presents itself differently on black skin

•Studies show that Black people with eczema tend to experience more intense symptoms and more frequent flare-ups compared to other ethnic groups.

•The aftermath of eczema can leave post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation

•Due to black people often having a dry and sensitive skin profile, using specialised skin care is key!

Whilst many people are aware of unrefined, raw shea butter and it’s amazing attributes, Nzema Appolo’s skincare range, provides natural solutions for people of all skin types ranging from extra dry – oily.

In addition, the range includes products which are good for other common skin ailments which people encounter throughout their lives.

“People automatically assume that our hero product is Shea butter, whilst we do have shea butter in our range, it is not our lead product or best-seller. My team have undergone extensive research over the past 18 months ensuring that we are building a portfolio of products which compliment different skin profiles and work well with the skins sebum and microbiome system. Safely enhancing ones skincare treatment for their concern is critical for us, as we spearhead our passion of making people feel good in their skin,” stated Ms. Nadia Takyiwaa-Mensah.

Nzema Appolo Skincare is presently listed on Walmart Marketplace, Amazon, Etsy and other third-party platforms, to learn about your skin type and what product is best for you or your family, visit www.nzemappolo.com or join their community on instagram nzema.appolo.skincare.
